It’s always funny when you come across a first class Americana record and find it comes from Canada. Just ironic like a for rent sign on a real estate office. Whatever, the former “Life Guard” on “Wise Guy” has a gravelly voice just right for roots music, a smoking set of back up players that aren’t here to be atonal and a smart song sense that shows why he’s an easy Juno winner north of the border. Simply a savvy set that hits all the right notes at all the right times, this is a must to keep in the car and have handy when traffic gets to be too much and you don’t want to give into that stuck feeling.
