Review:
"Those who remember Ry Cooder's great late '70s/early '80s albums with Terry Evans and Bobby King as supporting vocalists will be thrilled by Byrnes, who travels in comparable territory. Dawson's sympathetic touch as guitarist and producer keeps the atmosphere dusky, but it's Byrnes who joins together the musical strands. He sings with an emotional rasp reflecting his road-hardened years, but he does so with the steely glint of an artist who has finally found himself ...a 13-song masterpiece."
