"Jesse Zubot and Steve Dawson's first album was nominated for Canada's Juno Award. And rightly so. On Tractor Parts, the duo's second release, the boyhood friends and string playing sorcerers continue to explore acoustic music and redefine it. With Zubot on fiddle and Dawson on guitars, Dobro and Hawaiian guitar, the team is joined by able bassman Marlow Holder, drummer percussionist Elliot Polsky, and a variety of talented guests. Tractor Parts furrows fresh afield of your typical bluegrass, while still honoring the seeds sown by its predecessors, such as David Grisman's "dawg" music. And slinky-slankin' not so deep under the topsoil is the tongue-in-cheek virtuosity of that other genre-bending band, Bela Fleck and the Flecktones.
