Jansen is poised to be the next Corb Lund.
With a voice as pure and honest as a prairie breeze, the Saskatoon-based singer/songwriter writes and delivers songs that could have been written a couple of generations ago -- or today at breakfast. Think early Merle Haggard and Willie Nelson or Townes Van Zandt and Lucinda Williams. He really is that good.
Today's Remains is Jansen's sophomore release, following his acclaimed electro-folk debut Hobotron. And it's a winner.
Produced by Juno-winner Steve Dawson, who plays a slew of stringed instruments, the album features Chris Gestrin (Randy Bachman) on keyboards, Keith Lowe (Fiona Apple, Bill Frisell) on bas and John Raham (Be Good Tanyas, Po Girl) on drums, along with backup singer Karly Warkentin and Alice Dawson.
