June is quite the month for fast-rising young talent Colleen Rennison. No Sinner, the band fronted by this powerhouse singer, score an international release for their new album Boo Hoo Hoo on June 24, and that is preceded by Rennison's debut solo effort, See The Sky About To Rain. The sound of this superb album is a mite mellower than No Sinner's, as she explores folk and country terrain with great skill. Smart song selection is heavy on the CanCon, via tunes by Joni, Neil, Leonard, Robbie Robertson, and Sarah Harmer ("Oleander"). Lovely to hear Billy Cowsill and Ralph Boyd Johnson's "The Fool Is The Last One To Know" here too. The reliably excellent Steve Dawson produces, with horns and backing vocals (from the famed McCrary sisters) contributing to the full sound. This gal's a star!
